Dr. Khaled Mahmoud, the President of Bridge Technology Consulting, is an internationally renowned long span bridge engineer. Dr. Mahmoud is a pioneer in the design, strength evaluation and fracture behavior of bridge cables. He is the inventor of the BTC method, a comprehensive patented methodology for the evaluation of remaining strength and residual life of bridge cables. The BTC method was recently applied to assess the remaining strength of main suspension cables at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge and Mid-Hudson Bridge; both in the United States. Dr. Mahmoud is the Principal Investigator for a National Science Foundation Project of a cable mock-up for health monitoring of bridge cables. The project is one of a kind with a cable mock-up loaded with load level that is identical to the load level in real life bridge cables. Dr. Mahmoud is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Bridge Structures and the editor of five books on Bridge Engineering. He is the Chairman of the Bridge Engineering Association, organizer of the New York City Bridge Conference. He is the former chairman of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Committee on Cable-Supported Bridges. Dr. Mahmoud teaches Bridge Engineering and Fracture Mechanics at Polytechnic of New York University (NYU). He has been invited as visiting professor and keynote speaker in Brazil, Egypt, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, UAE, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Mahmoud is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New York, California and Washington.
