Bayonne Bridge.
Bayonne, NJ, USA
The Bayonne Bridge is the fifth-longest steel arch bridge in the world and was the longest in the world at the time of its completion in 1931. It connects Staten Island, New York to Bayonne, New Jersey over the Kill Van Kull with a main span of 1,675 feet. The objective of the project is to raise the bridge’s roadway to approximately 215 feet to increase the existing 151-foot navigational clearance restrictions. The 64 feet of additional air draft will allow the passage of larger vessels to reach the port’s main terminals.
