Jacques Chaban Delmas Bridge.

The Jacques Chaban Delmas Bridge connects the Bacalan (left bank) and la Bastide quarters (right bank) of the city Bordeaux. The lift span has a symmetric cross-section and carries four traffic lanes, two monorail tracks, and two outboard sidewalk/bikeways. Four independent pylon towers, one at each corner of the lift span, are utilized to house four independent counterweights, which travel vertically inside the pylons to operate the lift span. High strength steel cables passing over 4-meter diameter sheaves connect the lift span to the counterweights.
